State Supreme Court rejects Public Utility Commission’s attempt to reargue ‘tip letter’ case

<p>SCRANTON &#8211; The U.S. Marshals Service Friday announced the arrest of a 45-year-old former Hazleton resident in Florida for failure to appear on charges he defrauded potential home buyers.</p><p>Officials said deputy U.S. marshals from the agency&#8217;s office in Orlando, Florida, arrested Ignacio Beato around 7 a.m. that morning at an apartment complex in Seminole County.</p><p>Beato had originally been apprehended in Orange County, Florida, after Pennsylvania State Police secured a warrant for his arrest in November 2015 in connection with an alleged real estate scam.</p><p>Authorities said a second warrant was issued for Beato&#8217;s arrest after he failed to appear for a Jan. 19 court hearing. According to the Marshals Service, members of the agency&#8217;s Scranton-area Fugitive Task Force developed information he was still in Florida and forwarded the tip to their counterparts in Orlando.</p><p>Officials said Beato has been returned to Orange County pending further judicial proceedings.</p><p>&#8220;Working with our partner agencies, the Marshals Service helps to ensure that no defendant avoids his day in court,&#8221; U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane said in a statement. &#8220;It&#8217;s my sincere hope that any victim(s) find some comfort knowing that Beato will face justice.&#8221;</p><style>
