Meyers wins team title; Wyoming Valley Conference sends 21 to regionals

<p>BETHLEHEM &#8212; Hanover Township resident Jack Davis claimed a title at the National Prep Championships on Saturday for Wyoming Seminary.</p><p>The sophomore 120-pounder was one of four Blue Knights to claim national titles, but they fell on the ultimate goal of winning the team title settling for second place with 288 points, 34 points behind team champion and rival Blair Academy.</p><p>Joining Davis as champions for Wyoming Seminary were Patrick Munn (138 pounds), Mason Manville (152) and Mike Rogers (285).</p><p>Davis defeated two-time defending national champion Joey Prata from St. Christopher&#8217;s, 3-1 to claim the national title in his first appearance in the tournament.</p><p>Manville, a Penn State recruit, won his second national title in three years winning by technical fall over Jake Barry from Poly Prep. Rogers, who will wrestle at North Carolina State next season, also picked up his second national gold medal defeating Blair&#8217;s Neil Putnam, 3-1. Munn, who will wrestle for the University of Pennsylvania next season, picked up his first national title besting Belmont Hill&#8217;s Peter Tedesco, 5-0 in the final.</p><p>Finishing as runner-up for Sem were Benny Baker (113), Trent Olson (132), Christian Dietrich (182) and Nick Reenan at 195. The Blue Knights also had three fifth-place finishers with Justin Hoyle (103), Will Hilliard (220) and Jake Riegel (126), while Will Verallis was sixth at 160.</p><p>While four champs was nice for Sem, Blair picked up seven golds and three silvers en route to the victory.</p><style>
