PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh-area man accused of fighting with police before his son fatally stabbed a K-9 and was killed by officers has been ordered to stand trial. A district judge on Thursday did throw out one of two aggravated assault charges that 60-year-old Bruce Kelley Sr. faced for the fracas on Jan. 31, as well as a charge of resisting arrest. Defense attorney Blaine Jones says Kelley maintains his innocence. But Port Authority of Allegheny County police say he punched a female officer trying to arrest his 37-year-old namesake after police caught the men drinking at a transit gazebo. When stun guns failed to subdue Kelley's son, they deployed a dog, which Kelley Jr. killed, prompting police to shoot him. The district attorney is reviewing whether the dog was used properly.
