Meyers falls to Camp Hill in second round of PIAA Class 2A boys basketball tournament

Convention center authority puts Mohegan Sun Arena expansion back on track

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Kendra Howells, <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/448159/nanticoke-woman-sought-in-alleged-doughnut-scam" target="_blank">alleged to have defrauded area residents in a bogus doughnut-selling scheme</a>, pleaded guilty Tuesday to separate charges stemming from her allegedly breaking into a neighbor&#8217;s home and stealing jewelry that she later pawned to support an &#8220;out-of-control&#8221; drug addiction.</p><p>Court documents indicate that she pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property.</p><p>Luzerne County Judge Tina Polachek Gartley ordered that Howells pay $1,426 to victims Cathy Wright and Richard Neyhard, as well as $258 to Patricia Storosko and $27 to King Tut Gold Repair Hut. She was also ordered to not have any contact with the victims.</p><p>Police said Howells, 39, broke into a home on Pine Street in April and stole medication and over $1,400 in jewelry.</p><p>Police conducted a search of the region&#8217;s precious metal database and discovered Howells had sold six items of jewelry on April 15 at King Tut&#8217;s Gold Repair Hut in Wilkes-Barre. Howells received $90 for the goods and signed an acknowledgement of ownership.</p><p>Howells previously accepted a plea deal in November 2015 in connection with charges from the <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/492464/doughnut-scam-suspect-takes-plea-deal" target="_blank">doughnut scheme</a>.</p><style>
