Edwardsville Center celebrates Valentine’s Day

The Senior Peer Counseling Program is looking for Seniors 60 or older who would like a trained volunteer to visit them for an hour each week at a mutually arranged time. It can be comforting to have someone to share skills and experiences as well as discuss concerns confidentially in their own home with a trained senior peer counselor. People experiencing life changes or minor emotional issues have found it helpful.Male and female Seniors 55 and older, who drive, are also needed as Senior Peer Counselor volunteers. Registration for the next series of training classes is in progress. SPCP of Community Counseling Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Luzerne and Wyoming counties, selects volunteers to provide companionship to home bound individuals. Volunteers benefit from learning new skills related to mental health and aging and offering their personal service.There is no cost to participate in this program. Caregivers are invited to call for additional information.
