DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A daughter of Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck, who wrote an afterward to one of her mother's books," has died in Pennsylvania. Janice Comfort Walsh was 90. Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home in Doylestown says Walsh died of natural causes March 11 at a health care facility. Walsh was one of Buck's seven children adopted. The Philadelphia Inquirer says she was moved a sister's mental illness to train as an occupational therapist. Walsh wrote an afterword to her mother's book "The Child Who Never Grew," which chronicled the struggles of raising a disabled child. Walsh served on the board at Pearl S. Buck International and cared for her mother's National Historic Landmark home outside Philadelphia. Buck's novel "The Good Earth" won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932 and helped earn her the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938.
