NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Norfolk Police department says police shot and killed a 25-year-old woman after she brandished a weapon. Norfolk Police spokeswoman Cpl. Melinda Wray says officers were in the area when they came across an altercation in a parking lot early Saturday. Wray said a woman involved in the altercation was shot by police after she brandished a weapon. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Wray couldn't provide the names or races of the officers or woman. Wray couldn't say how many people were involved in the altercation or what kind of weapon the woman was carrying. The Virginian-Pilot reports that it is the third police-involved shooting in Norfolk this year. Earlier this month, Norfolk police shot and killed a 25-year-old man, who was a suspect in a killing.
