Letter to the Editor: Hillary Clinton’s lax behavior on email security raises larger issue

After reading state <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/opinion/columns/520266/state-rep-sid-michaels-kavulich-psus-agricultural-programs-shouldnt-be-next-victim-of-state-budget-crisis" target="_blank">Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich&#8217;s column</a> calling for lawmakers to return to work and compromise, I&#8217;m left with the question, what about you, Sid?Harrisburg politicians such as Kavulich must think we are stupid. Everyone who follows the news knows Gov. Tom Wolf proposed a $33.8 billion budget that included a nearly $4.7 billion tax hike on the back of the hardworking people of Pennsylvania. We all read the stories about the tax hikes Wolf wanted &#8211; everything from sales tax to income tax would go up.Wolf&#8217;s budget was so bad, when the tax-hike portion of the budget was put up for a vote on June 1, not a single Republican or Democrat voted for it.A compromise budget was proposed, House Bill 1192, that met or exceeded roughly two-thirds of Gov. Wolf&#8217;s budget demands without raising taxes. This trade-off budget passed both the Senate and House without Kavulich&#8217;s help.Gov. Wolf vetoed the budget because, like Kavulich, meeting 274 of Wolf&#8217;s 401 budget line items was not enough &#8220;compromise&#8221; for him.I&#8217;ve had enough of the Harrisburg politicians who talk about compromise back home in their districts but refuse to work together in Harrisburg. If meeting someone two-thirds of the way isn&#8217;t enough &#8220;compromise&#8221; for Sid, I have to wonder what is.Charles BrewerGreenfield TownshipLackawanna County
