Letter to the Editor: Birding festival could appeal to older hobbyists and young peeps

I keep seeing our governor saying we must pass his tax bill. Let&#8217;s look at one aspect of this bill. Not only does he want to increase the sates sales tax from 6 to nearly 7 percent, but many items that were not taxable for good reason in the past would be taxed. Let&#8217;s look at a few.Nursing home care averages $6,325 per month. Wolf wants to increase that by $443 per month, or $5,316 per year.Day care per child per year averages $11,666. Wolf wants $817 more from you.There are many more items lined up for a nearly 7 percent increase due to Wolf&#8217;s tax bill. Some examples are adult day care, nonprescription drugs, flags, cable TV, scientific research and development, garbage fees, employment services, higher education, textbooks, death care services and funeral services. There are many others.So Wolf wants to take Grandma&#8217;s nursing home money and working family day care money and so on to increase money for schools. As we all know, America spends at the top of the list of countries per student while our scores rank near the bottom. We have been throwing more money at schools for 40 years and the results are the same. Higher costs and lower grades. Isn&#8217;t it time we fix the system?Now, let&#8217;s look at where Wolf will send the extra money. Wolf will give $1,519 total more to Wyoming Valley West School District, $95,385 less to Wyoming Area, $52,521 less to Lake-Lehman and $85,472 less to Dallas. Looks like the Wolf plan will cause some school districts to increase property taxes. However, the lucky people in the Philadelphia district (his voting group) will get an increase of $27,637,308. That should get him re-elected.Don&#8217;t forget he wants to increase the income tax you pay so you will be taking home less. Labor Department statistics show that working people have not received any increase in pay for many years. Labor Department data states that there was a decrease in average pay last quarter. Wolf is going to take your net pay down even more.If you want to stop this bleeding of the common people, you need to contact your senator and representative and let them know they must stop this or you will vote for their opponent in the next election.
