Forty Fort Lube & Service builds relationships with customers

<p>It started as an interesting endeavor by an old miner.</p><p>It&#8217;s grown into makes Voitek TV and Appliances, one of Wyoming Valley&#8217;s most popular destinations for home upgrades.</p><p>Why else would crowds keep coming back?</p><p>With two locations on Wyoming Avenue &#8212; one in Kingston and another in Exeter &#8212; Voitek reached the platinum level in this year&#8217;s Times Leader Readers&#8217; Choice awards, meaning the newspaper&#8217;s readers selected the business as the best appliance store for all three years of voting.</p><p>&#8220;It makes us really feel good,&#8221; said David Voitek Jr., who co-owns Voitek TV and Appliances with his father, David Sr., and his brother, Ed. &#8220;We always thought of the people around here as family. It&#8217;s a nice feeling to know they feel the same way about us.&#8221;</p><p>After all, it&#8217;s a family business. And the Voitek business booming.</p><p>A half decade ago, Voitek Sr. began dabbling in the industry as sort of a side job.</p><p>&#8220;He was a miner,&#8221; Voitek Jr. said of his dad, who is currently in failing health. &#8220;When he got done mining, he got cleaned up and he started with TVs. He would take them to a farm and leave them there for a weekend. He&#8217;d put an antenna up, get a picture on it and say to the families, &#8216;Try it for a weekend.&#8217; Of course, back then, you only got three channels. But most of the people kept them. It just grew from there.&#8221;</p><p>People kept coming back to the first store Voitek Sr. opened in Kingston after beginning his television building and repairing career in the basement of a brother&#8217;s home.</p><p>The business has since branched out to include major appliances, and some 20 years ago, the Voiteks opened a second, larger store in Exeter.</p><p>&#8220;Appliances are even a bigger part of our business than TVs are,&#8221; Voitek Jr. said. &#8220;We have pretty much the largest sales of stoves, refrigerators, receivers.&#8221;</p><p>That doesn&#8217;t mean Voitek stores have tuned out the television stuff.</p><p>&#8220;We do TVs, home theater, all that sort of stuff,&#8221; Voitek Jr. said. &#8220;It&#8217;s just like being at the theater, only more comfortable because you&#8217;re in your own chair.&#8221;</p><p>Which all leaves Voitek TV and Appliance sitting pretty in the eyes of Times Leader readers.</p><p>&#8220;Feels good,&#8221; Voitek Jr. said. &#8220;We&#8217;re more conducive to the people. I think we give good, reliable service. We&#8217;re a family business.&#8221;</p><style>
