Cool temperatures to give way to Spring-like warmth, sunshine

<p>KINGSTON &#8212; When entering Cook&#8217;s Pharmacy on Wyoming Avenue, the brightness and cleanliness of the local drug store stands out.</p><p>Overseeing operations is registered pharmacist and owner Jim Gaudino, who is never too busy to make his way to the pharmacy counter and provide information to customers.</p><p>On a recent day just after noon, Gaudino had already answered several customer questions in regard to their prescriptions.</p><p>Customers want to know whether a prescription might interfere with another prescription they are taking, how long a drug can be kept, how it can be stored or if it is necessary to finish a prescription.</p><p>For these questions, Gaudino and his staff of 35 are always available.</p><p>It is because of this personal service that Cook&#8217;s Pharmacy has been named Best Pharmacy in the 2016 Times Leader Readers&#8217; Choice contest.</p><p>Although Gaudino and his wife, Dawn, purchased the business in 2002 from Dawn&#8217;s father, Fred Lombardo, it is a family business that dates back to 1967.</p><p>Lombardo bought the pharmacy from the Cook family in 1967, keeping that family name attached to the business</p><p>The full-service pharmacy not only provides quality service on site, but also offers delivery service. The pharmacy also carries a full line of over-the-counter products and cosmetics.</p><p>To fit the needs of its customers, the pharmacy offers compounding, specifically prepared prescriptions to its customers, as well as immunizations.</p><p>Gaudino uses every opportunity to meet the needs of the community, including technology.</p><p>Facebook posts from the pharmacy not only provide basic information, but also alert members of the community to the latest in medical news, such as a new ADHD drug, which children can take by mouth, and heart health awareness.</p><p>The pharmacy maintains a Twitter account, providing links to information customers might find interesting, including the dangers of chewing ice and how to strengthen fingernails.</p><p>Gaudino views his pharmacy as not just a service or product, but an opportunity to interface with members of the community and to inform them of important medical information.</p><p>He looks forward to continuing to serve the community in person, by delivery and online.</p><style>
