<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; This Easter egg hunt promised to get a little wet and wild.</p><p>The annual Easter Egg Dip was held at the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA on Northampton Street Saturday afternoon, promising the little eager egg hunters a &#8220;splashing&#8221; good time.</p><p>&#8220;This is our second year of the revamped program,&#8221; said Tammy Como, the YMCA&#8217;s Aquatics director. &#8220;We wanted to make it more than just an egg dip &#8211; so we added all the other components to make it a full, fun event.&#8221;</p><p>What are those other components? The Y created a one-stop shop for Easter fun and games &#8211; in addition to their famous &#8220;egg dip&#8221; in the pool, they also have craft stations, an imagination playground, snacks and more.</p><p>&#8220;We even have a cookie icing and decorating table, thanks to the gracious donation of cookies from Wegmans,&#8221; added Como. &#8220;The children will be able to ice them, decorate them and then take them home.&#8221;</p><p>The event, running from noon to 2 p.m., was a fun twist on an old classic favorite in the area.</p><p>&#8220;We brought our oldest son back for his second year &#8211; both of our kids went to school here in the preschool program, and he had a lot of fun last year,&#8221; said Nicole Bednarek of Hunlock Creek.</p><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t mind the drive,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It&#8217;s the only program like it in the area and the kids had a blast.&#8221;</p><p>The staff at the Y was thrilled with the turnout from the public, as well.</p><p>&#8220;Last year, we had 120 children and I know for certain we surpassed that figure this year,&#8221; said Como.</p><p>&#8220;Each month, we try to do a family event for the members here at the Y,&#8221; she added. &#8220;This event was free admission to the families of the members.&#8221;</p><p>The line of children, clad in swimsuits and floaties, wound all throughout the building. During the initial entry, the crowd of families extended out the door.</p><p>&#8220;The children love being able to swim,&#8221; she added.</p><p>For the families of water-loving kids, the Wilkes-Barre YMCA has just begun registration for their latest round of their swim lesson program.</p><p>&#8220;The lessons begin April 11,&#8221; she added. &#8220;They&#8217;re a great way to help kids sharpen their aquatic skills or teach them to swim from the ground up.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;They&#8217;re fantastic to help them get a jumpstart for summer.&#8221;</p><p>Anyone interested can call the Wilkes-Barre YMCA at 570-208-9622 for more details.</p><style>
