The Brennan-Regan Post 585, 329 Main St., Duryea American Legion, is currently seeking new regular military veterans from all current and past wars and hostilities. The first time veterans fee of $25 will be waved if you have not joined an American Legion in the past.Eligibility includes WWI, April 6, 1917 through Nov. 11, 1918; WWII, Dec. 7, 1941 through Dec. 31, 1946; Korean War, June 25, 1950 through Jan. 31, 1955; Vietnam War, Feb. 28, 1961 through May 7, 1975; Lebanon/Grenada, Aug. 24, 1982 through July 31, 1984; Panama, Dec. 20, 1989 through Jan. 31, 1990; Persian Gulf, Aug. 2, 1990 until cessation of hostilities as determined by the US government. Also any Merchant Marines from Dec. 7, 1941 through Dec. 31, 1946.Our Post 585 both helps and works with our youth, have post activities, sponsor a little league team, march in parades, help families in time of death by honoring their veteran with time at the funeral home with prayers and a bible in their honor.Visit the post and fill out an application to become an American Legionnaire to help keep the veterans alive and well in our post.
