Beyond the Byline: Spring means time to create golf memories

<p>WYOMING &#8212; Kimmy Longfoot reacted with sadness when she heard Rich&#8217;s Golf and Fun Center in Wyoming would not open this year.</p><p>&#8220;It was one of the few places we had left to take the kids during nice says and I&#8217;m sad to see it go,&#8221; said Longfoot, of Courtdale. &#8220;I went there a lot as a kid and yet another good, safe place for my kids to go is gone. It&#8217;s a shame.&#8221;</p><p>As area residents began to anticipate the center&#8217;s opening, owner Richard Ceccoli left a recorded message saying he is sorry the center would not open this year for reasons &#8220;beyond my control.&#8221;</p><p>The message went on to thank customers, friends and employees for their loyalty.</p><p>&#8220;I am so very sorry,&#8221; Ceccoli said.</p><p>Swoyersville mayor Chris Concert is sad about the closure.</p><p>&#8220;I always like an evening of mini golf,&#8221; said Concert. &#8220;It&#8217;s where I take a date when I have one.&#8221;</p><p>Concert hopes the center will open again in the future.</p><p>The business, located across from the Midway Shopping Center and behind Victory Pig Pizza on Wyoming Avenue, has been an area staple for those of all ages for decades.</p><p>It offered miniature gold courses, double decker driving range, bumper boats, baseball and softball batting cages, mini go-carts and arcade.</p><p>For those who came hungry, the center featured an ice cream and food bar.</p><style>
