WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man posing as a water company employee allegedly stole cash and jewelry from a home on Loomis street Thursday afternoon.Police reported that at about 2:30 p.m. they were called to the home for a complaint of a man posing as a water company employee who appeared at the front door of a residence and said he had work inside the home.The complainant said the man said he needed to check the water main and went to the basement.He then informed her the water in the home was dirty and turned the faucets on. He told her she needed a new part that would cost $100, but he needed $50 to get the part that he would give back to her when he returned.The victim went upstairs to get the money and realized the man had followed her up the steps, observing from where she took the money.
