<p>NEWPORT TWP. &#8212; A fire early Saturday morning displaced two people and caused significant damage to a home.</p><p>According to fire personnel, firefighters were called to 1 Depot Street, Glen Lyon, around 4:30 a.m.</p><p>On scene were the Newport Township, Hanover Township, Mocanaqua and Nanticoke fire departments, with Ashley and Nanticoke ambulances also responding.</p><p>According to township Fire Chief Jason Kowalski, a woman and a child safely escaped from the blaze. There were no injuries.</p><p>Kowalski said the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal had been contacted.</p><p>&#8220;Its possible that it was caused by a wood burning stove,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But we don&#8217;t know that yet for sure.&#8221;</p><p>The Red Cross had been contacted to assist the family, who was staying with friends, according to Kowalski.</p><style>
