Freshman Nathaniela Bourdeau captured the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes to help the St. Joseph&#8217;s women&#8217;s track team capture the title at last Sunday&#8217;s Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J.The Coughlin grad took the 100 in a field of 30 in 12.55 besting the runner-up by .22 seconds. She claimed the 200 in a field of 38 with a time of 25.38. The efforts gained her 20 points as the Hawks finished with 187.Senior teammate Dannah Hayward, another Coughlin grad, took the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:02.76 which was 1.70 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. It was the third straight victory for Hayward in the 400 hurdles during the young season.Last Friday, two area runners competed for the Hawks at the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton, N.J. Senior captain Sara Radzwilka, a Wyoming Area grad, finished 16th in the 800-meter run (2:18.78) while freshman Lindsey Oremus, a Dallas grad, finished 41st in the 1,500-meter run (4:49.46).St. Joseph&#8217;s will compete in Bucknell&#8217;s Bison Open Classic Saturday in Lewisburg.Boich betters own markJunior Fallyn Boich finished second in the javelin at the Colonial Relays on March 26 and she bettered her record in that event in doing so.The Holy Redeemer grad had a throw of 142-3 &#188;. It qualified her for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, the New England Championship and the ECAC Division I Championship.Last weekend, Boich captured the javelin throw (134-8) at Yale&#8217;s Mark T. Young Invitational in New Haven, Conn.The Eagles will be competing in the Friar Open Friday and the Bear Invitational Saturday in Providence, R.I.Honor for ColleyWidener junior Josh Colley was named Middle Atlantic Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Monday after a solid performance in the Division II West Chester Invitational.Making his first start of the outdoor season, the Tunkhannock Area grad finished second in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump. His 44-7 &#189; effort in the triple jump qualified him for the MAC Championship (May 5-7 in Reading). He hit 20-1 in the long jump.Colley&#8217;s personal bests are 46-1 &#188; in the triple jump and 23-8 &#190; in the long jump, both set last May. He finished 17th in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Championship.Zavada wins twoFreshman Logan Zavada picked up a pair of victories in relief last week for the Bloomsburg baseball team. The 6-foot, 205-pound right-hander, a Wyoming Valley West grad, worked 1.2 innings in a 9-8 PSAC Eastern victory over Lock Haven. He gave up a hit and a walk.In a 19-9 triumph over Philadelphia, Zavada pitched four innings and gave up seven hits and five runs, four earned. He didn&#8217;t walk a batter and struck out eight.Another freshman, Jeremy Zezza from Wyoming Area, is a relief pitcher with the Huskies as well. He&#8217;s pitched in three games with no decisions.Kline&#8217;s coming onFreshman David Kline had a slow start with the 14-17 Penn State-Harrisburg baseball team, but the Hazleton Area grad had a pair of solid games last week. The 6-foot outfielder, a left-handed hitter, went 2 for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI in a 9-6 victory over St. Mary&#8217;s, Md. And had a hit and a run scored in an 8-3 loss to Wesley.On the season, Kline is hitting .203 (13 for 64) with four doubles, a triple, five RBIs and 12 runs scored. Playing center field, he has made three errors in 46 chances (.935).Record for Stonier Marywood freshman Justin Stonier tied the school high jump record in just his second meet of the outdoor season. The Tunkhannock Area grad finished second to teammate Tyler Shotto at the Alvernia Invitational on April 2. Both cleared 6-feet but Shotto took first with fewer tries. He had held the record alone at the same height heading into the meet.Stonier also competes in the triple jump for the Pacers and finished sixth in the Alvernia meet.Kane rows with CrusadersSophomore John Kane sits in the number six chair on the Varsity 8 boat for the Holy Cross men&#8217;s rowing team. The 6-5, 205-pound Holy Redeemer grad, and his mates finished second to No. 15-ranked George Washington University in last Friday&#8217;s George Washington Regatta on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The Crusaders were timed in 5:38.70.Because of poor weather, the format for Saturday was changed and Holy Cross went up against Georgetown and Navy in a three-boat race and finished third with a time of 5:54.20.Gold for KravitzJunior Elizabeth Kravitz captured the javelin at last Sunday&#8217;s Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J. Her toss of 121-09 &#190; qualified her for the PSAC Championship. The Dallas High grad also finished fifth in the hammer throw with a PSAC mark of 131-01.Another Dallas grad, Bald Eagles senior Alexis Arnold, captured the 5,000-meter run at the Jim Taylor Invitational on March 26 in Selinsgrove. Her time of 18:06.08 also qualified her for the PSAC Championship.A second for Norris Edinboro senior Hilari Norris finished second in the 100-meter hurdles at the Slippery Rock Open on April 2 in Slippery Rock. Her time was 15.08 and was .08 behind the winner.The Holy Redeemer grad also finished 14th in the 100-meter dash in 13.39. The Fighting Scots return to action in the Westminster Invitational Saturday in New Wilmington.A win for KarnoppMoravian senior Ryan Karnopp captured the pole vault at the annual Coach P Invitational last Sunday in Bethlehem. His winning height was 14-5 &#188;.The Tunkhannock Area grad kicked off the outdoor season by finishing second behind two Division I athletes at the Lafayette 7-Way meet on March 26 in Easton with a height of 13-11 &#188;.Karnopp, who holds the indoor pole vault record at Moravian (16-6 &#190;), will be gunning for the outdoor record of 16-4 &#190; set in 2012.Moravian hosts the Greyhound Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Bethlehem.Distasio shows versatilityKutztown&#8217;s red-shirt junior Destiny Distasio ran the leadoff leg of the 4x100 relay which finished second in 49.45 at the Bloomsburg Tri-Meet April 2.The Tunkhannock grad also competes in the pole vault for the Golden Bears. On March 26, she finished second at the Golden Rams Invitational at West Chester with a height of 10-10 which was good enough to earn a PSAC qualifying mark.<style>
