WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A city man will serve five years in prison after police discovered a handgun and 45 bags of heroin inside a Sullivan Street residence in 2014, the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office announced Thursday.Federal prosecutors say Disean Kendricks, 26, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Malachy E. Mannion in Scranton. He previously pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of heroin trafficking and was indicted by a grand jury in June 2015.According to a criminal complaint, officers with the city&#8217;s Anti-Crime Unit on Aug. 23, 2014, served a search warrant at 70 Sullivan St., allegedly finding a large cache of heroin and cocaine along with packaging materials and cash.Kendricks was sleeping in another bedroom where police allegedly found heroin packaged for sale in his pants pockets.A bag containing a large amount of heroin packaged for sale, a large amount of cash divided in $1,000 denominations and a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun were found in an open safe in Kendrick&#8217;s bedroom, according to the complaints.When the search warrant was served, Kendricks was wanted in New Jersey on a charge he violated probation on a burglary conviction, which prohibited him from owning, carrying and possessing a firearm, the complaints say.The investigation was conducted by the Wilkes-Barre Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), prosecutors said.<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>By Joe Dolinskyjdolinsky@www.timesleader.com</bylineMeta></div><div class="metaInfo"><shirttailMeta>Reach Joe Dolinsky at 570-991-6110 or on Twitter @JoeDolinskyTL</shirttailMeta></div>
