John Morgan came through with a line drive single to right with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to give Hanover Area a dramatic 5-4 win over Northwest on Thursday in a WVC Division 3 baseball showdown.Morgan&#8217;s walk-off hit came with the bases loaded to cap off a back-and-forth game in extra innings. The Hawkeyes (3-1) had gone scoreless in 13 straight innings in league play before breaking through for four in the sixth.Northwest (3-1) answered right back in the seventh on an RBI double from Doug Campbell and an RBI single by Bryce Harrison.Austin Gately (2-4, double) pitched the top of the eighth and then scored the decisive run later in the frame to earn the win on the mound. Kevin Rimmer struck out six and had two hits at the plate. Matt Clarke doubled and had two RBI.Brandon Reno led the Rangers with three hits.Crestwood 1,Hazleton Area 0Senior Matt Mickowski shined on the mound, pitching a one-hitter to beat the Cougars on the road. Derek Distasio knocked in Matt Taleroski with a single in the top of the seventh for the Comets (1-1) to break the scoreless tie.On the other side, Scott Shamany and Alex Klein combined on a three-hitter for the Cougars (1-2).
