<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A city man who sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl will spend 24 to 48 years in state prison.</p><p>William Charles Wunner, 30, was sentenced Friday on one felony count each of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, endangering the welfare of a child and two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault.</p><p>Wunner, last known address of Moyallen Street, Wilkes-Barre, was prohibited to have contact with minors and must register as a sex offender for life, Judge David W. Lupas ordered.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint, the girl&#8217;s mother reported on June 22, 2014, that Wunner had sexually assaulted her daughter in April and May inside a Wilkes-Barre residence.</p><p>Relatives told police the girl had become distant, began exhibiting a fear of men she did not know and would spit on her brother, the complaint says.</p><p>The alleged victim&#8217;s grandmother said the girl pulled away when she was helping the girl get dressed, police say. The grandmother assured the girl she was safe and said it was okay to tell her if something bad was happening.</p><p>The girl began to shake and said someone would kill her if she told before she finally alleged &#8220;Will&#8221; was touching her, the complaint says.</p><p>Wunner on Friday also entered a guilty plea on separate charges of theft and writing bad checks.</p><p>Prosecutors say Wunner in 2013 wrote checks for the purchase of two vehicles from Motor World Auto Group in Wilkes-Barre, then traded or sold them to a third parties despite not having money in his bank account to cover the costs.</p><p>In a similar but separate case, Wunner tried to write checks for more than $3,000 in jewelry at Littman Jewelers. An employee became suspicious of Wunner and denied the transaction, prosecutors say.</p><style>
