Letter to the Editor: Family reunited with missing labradoodle, thanks to alert Wilkes-Barre police

This month in Washington, D.C., the Congressional Steel Caucus held hearings about the challenges facing the domestic steel industry. It&#8217;s no secret that the steel industry was essentially born here in Pennsylvania and our state remains one of the biggest producers in America of steel products.However, as a result of poor trade enforcement, we&#8217;ve seen foreign steel, much of which is government subsidized in communist countries, being dumped onto the market at dramatically depressed prices. As a result, we&#8217;re seeing thousands of our neighbors across the state being put out of work. Just last week, we saw an announcement from U.S. Steel that they were laying off hundreds of workers.I&#8217;m glad that our leaders in Congress understand that an issue exists and are holding hearings. However, we need those leaders, along with our next president, to take a firm stance against illegal steel dumping, and start ensuring that our trade policies truly put our American producers on a level playing field.Alan J.
