MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — A young Detroit-area woman whose newborn baby was left to die in a cold garage faces sentencing. A jury last month convicted 25-year-old Angela Alexie of murder. She faces life in prison with no parole when sentenced Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. Investigators say Alexie gave birth in a garage in Eastpointe, Michigan, shortly before Christmas in 2014. The boy died in the garage, and his body was discovered at a recycling center. Prosecutors say Alexie chose a cowardly way of getting rid of the child. Her lawyer has said that involuntary manslaughter was more appropriate, but the jury disagreed.
