Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins gear up for Providence Bruins in AHL Playoffs

The Hoyt Library is proud to present Chapter 5: Hidden in the Corner 1940-1975, a special free public lecture series sponsored by the Luzerne County Library System&#8217;s (LCLS), &#8220;Scratching the Surface: 300 Years of the Wyoming Valley History 1675-1975,&#8221; from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30, in the community room of the library.This chapter addresses the World War II and cultural changes which affected the Wyoming Valley, including the waning on the coal industry. The chapter also addresses the Tropical Storm Agnes flood of 1972.The program will consist of photographs and maps from the Luzerne County Historical Society, including a video compiled by Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s history teacher, Clark Switzer, which delves into the last 300 years of the history of the Wyoming Valley.The programs will include a viewing of a chapter of the film followed by a discussion of the selected topic.For more information on the series and lecture go to www.luzernelibraries.org
