Collectively, before any big election, we tend to get swept up in campaign hype, gobbling up those alluring promises as if they were Gospel. Then we heap expectations on the victor, even if those expectations are more than the office, let alone the human who holds it, can accomplish.A president, remember, is not a magician. Congress and the Supreme Court see to that, holding the executive office in check.A U.S. senator, likewise, is only one of 100 to weigh in on the nation&#8217;s major issues, not the arbiter of all that comes before him or her.That said, your vote &#8211; even if cast for the office seeker who comes up short &#8211; sends a strong message about your priorities and societal aspirations, be they regarding issues that come before the nation&#8217;s highest elected office, the state&#8217;s attorney general or someone serving closer to home.On Sunday, the Times Leader&#8217;s Opinion Board made <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/opinion/editorials/534771/our-opinion-katie-mcginty-perfectly-poised-to-represent-democrats-in-u-s-senate-race" target="_blank">an endorsement in the Democratic race for U.S. Senate</a>. Four candidates are vying for the post now occupied by U.S. Sen.
