<p><strong>May 2006</strong></p><p>For the first time since 1996, the Wyoming Area softball team beat Pittston Area &#8212; a 6-2 decision to end the 11-game losing streak against the Warriors.</p><p>Wyoming Area&#8217;s Kayla Pizano, Sarah Maheady and Heidi O&#8217;Brien each picked up RBIs in a three-run seventh. Melissa Washney also drove in a run. O&#8217;Brien was the winning pitcher for Wyoming Area.</p><p>Earlier in the season, Pittston Area beat Wyoming Area 12-2.</p><p><strong>May 1996</strong></p><p>In a rivalry game, Wyoming Area and Pittston Area played in a 4-4 tie in girls soccer action.</p><p>Wyoming Area&#8217;s Meghan Calpin scored her second of two goals midway through the fourth quarter to tie the game at four, but that&#8217;s the way it ended. Also scoring for the Warriors were Jen Gadomski and Chrissy Polak.</p><p>Pittston Area&#8217;s Gina Testa scored four goals in the second period to give PA a 4-2 lead.</p><p><strong>May 1986</strong></p><p>Wyoming Area&#8217;s softball team edged Seton Catholic, 2-1, to stay in the Wyoming Valley Conference title hunt.</p><p>Simba Harris picked up the win for the Warriors, while Kim Schultz closed out the game in the circle. Patricia Ventre allowed just two runs in the circle for Seton.</p><p><strong>May</strong> <strong>1976</strong></p><p>Sam Greenfield, a sophomore at Pittston Area, placed first at the annual U.S. Marine Corps Physical Fitness Competition. Greenfield ran a 46-second, 300-yard dash to garner the title at the event held in Hershey.</p><style>
