Berkshire Hathaway event celebrates what makes firm special

<p>HUGHESTOWN &#8212; Wyoming Area&#8217;s Gwen Glatz was named the Sabatini&#8217;s Most Valuable Player after tossing a complete game in a 5-2 win over rival Pittston Area in a Wyoming Valley Conference crossover game Saturday in Hughestown.</p><p>Glatz, a sophomore, helped break a two-game slide for the Warriors, who now sit at 5-4 and in third place in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 behind Nanticoke and Tunkhannock, who are both 6-1. Pittston Area falls to 4-4 and keeps them in front of Berwick and Crestwood in the league.</p><p>Pittston Area&#8217;s Taylor Baloga came to pitch in relief in the fourth inning and didn&#8217;t allow a run. She was named Pittston Area&#8217;s MVP.</p><p>Wyoming Area&#8217;s Heather Nametko started the scoring for the Warriors with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Teammate Kristi Skok then delivered a two-run double to give the Warriors a 3-0 leader after the first.</p><p>Wyoming Area tacked on a run in the bottom of the second with a Bree Bednarski triple down the left field line. Sarah Coolbaugh then laced a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth for Wyoming Area&#8217;s final runs. That&#8217;s when Baloga took over for the Patriots.</p><p>Pittston Area scored two runs in the sixth. Lexi Felinski led off with a double, followed by a Alexa McHugh single. Nina Cencetti then knocked in Felinski with a fielder&#8217;s choice. Taryn Ashby&#8217;s single drove in McHugh.</p><p><strong>Berwick 5, Wyoming Area 1</strong></p><p>Wyoming Area struggled to get the bats going in a loss to Berwick on Thursday. The Warriors pounded out just seven hits, and stranded eight runners.</p><p>Gwen Glatz, who took the loss in the circle, scored Wyoming Area&#8217;s only run in the second inning. She allowed three earned runs on one walk and two strikeouts. Glatz and Vicky Remley each had a double.</p><p><strong>What&#8217;s next</strong></p><p>Pittston Area hosts Nanticoke on Monday and Hazleton Area on Wednesday. The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday at Wyoming Valley West. Wyoming Area hosts Crestwood on Friday.</p><style>
