PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia police officer wounded during an ambush while he was sitting in his patrol car in January has received a "Man of the Year" award in New York City. WCAU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1TooTO4 ) Officer Jesse Hartnett was honored for his heroic actions Wednesday night during the yearly National Police Defense Foundation Awards Dinner in Queens. Authorities say Hartnett's left arm was shattered by gunfire when Edward Archer attacked him. Surveillance footage shows Hartnett returning fire and pursuing Archer Archer, who later said he acted in the name of Islam, faces attempted murder and other charges. Hartnett, who suffered nerve damage and has limited use of his left arm, says the recognition is "a big deal."
