<p>Last Sunday, the RailRiders and Red Wings finished a game in 2 hours, 12 minutes marking the fastest nine-inning game this season.</p><p>Last year, the RailRiders&#8217; fastest nine-inning game came in Buffalo on Aug. 29 in a loss that took just 1:49. That contest was the fastest nine-inning SWB game in its time as the Yankees&#8217; top affiliate (2007-Present).</p><p>The franchise record of 1:38 was set by the Red Barons on April 4, 2002 when Brett Myers lost an eight-inning complete game allowing one unearned run on three hits in that game with an eighth-inning error by Chase Utley leading to the lone score in a 1-0 game that sported a game-time temperature of 34 degrees.</p><p>The Ottawa manager that game was Tim Leiper, now the first-base coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. The winning run was scored by Randy Knorr, a former Blue Jay who played for and later managed Syracuse. He is now a senior baseball advisor for the Washington Nationals.</p><p><strong>RailRiders in food fight</strong></p><p>Every year, Minor League Baseball holds friendly contests amongst teams in every level.</p><p>Some of the more popular fan-voting polls are Moniker Madness, Jersey Joust, Mascot Mania and Clash of the Caps.</p><p>Going on right now is the popular Food Fight where teams serve up an item being offered at their ballparks and they compete against dozens of other entries from around the country.</p><p>The RailRiders have entered a new food item into the contest, the Pierogi Pulled Pork Sandwich. The grinder consists of an NEPA staple pierogi sitting on top of pulled pork then placed on a fresh bun and topped with barbecue sauce.</p><p>At last check, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre entry was sitting in 24th place out of 72.</p><p>Numerous teams have entered a food item that consists of at least one part pork item. The current leader is The Squealer from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The item consists of bacon, ham, Italian sausage, pepperoni, pulled pork, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce on top of a pig roll, which has a big nose and ears on the top portion of the bun.</p><p>To vote for the Pierogi Pulled Pork Sandwich or other items, go to Milb.com and click on &#8220;Fans&#8221; from the menu.</p><p><strong>Looking ahead</strong></p><p>After the current series with Lehigh Valley wraps up, the RailRiders welcome Pawtucket to PNC Field for four games for the first time this season. The teams met earlier this season in Pawtucket with SWB sweeping a three-game set at McCoy Stadium.</p><p>When Pawtucket leaves town on Thursday night, the RailRiders will host Indianapolis for the three-game weekend series to wrap up the nine-game homestand, the longest of the season. In case you forgot, the last time these teams met was in the playoffs last season when the Indians swept the best-of-five set, including the last game which was in heart-breaking fashion for SWB.</p><p><strong>Don&#8217;t miss this</strong></p><p>With a full slate of games at home this week, there&#8217;s plenty of promotions to pick from. The can&#8217;t miss game for fans will be on Saturday, May 14 when a number of attractions will be occurring starting with the annual Star Wars Night. Sticking with that theme, the first 2,500 fan to enter the building will receive a Champ-Bacca bobblehead giveaway.</p><p>In addition to Star Wars Night, the Legends Series continues when Joe Pepitone makes an appearance. And be sure to bring all your friends and family to the 4:05 p.m. start because $40 will get you four meal vouchers, for tickets and four premium giveaways.</p><style>
