AG: Owner of bankrupt payroll firm stole $5.7M from clients

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The departing chairwoman is leaving Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music with quite a parting gift: $55 million. Philly.com (http://bit.ly/1TGwIPt ) reports that, adjusted for inflation, the gift from Nina Baroness von Maltzahn is the largest-ever received by the musical conservatory. Maltzahn and her husband have donated about $70 million to the school, including the latest gift. She says the gift "is from the heart" and that she believes in the school and wants it to succeed. The conservatory was founded as a tuition-free school in 1928 by Mary Louise Curtis Bok. Maltzahn is stepping down at the end of the month after two years as board chair.
