Bill Jones: Stack the deck in favor of your children’s welfare

<p>Dustin Jeffrey knows what it&#8217;s like to be a Game 7 hero, and he hopes his teammates get to experience the feeling in Sunday&#8217;s matchup against the Hershey Bears.</p><p>In 2014 as a member of the Texas Stars, Jeffrey scored two goals in a 6-2 Game 7 win over Toronto in the conference finals. The Stars went on to win the Calder Cup, and he&#8217;s hoping that history is replicated with the Penguins.</p><p>To do so, it means someone will need to step up and be a Game 7 hero.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a chance for somebody to put their stamp on a Game 7. That&#8217;s a pretty cool feeling,&#8221; Jeffrey said. &#8220;Our guys know what it takes and we&#8217;re excited for this. It doesn&#8217;t come around very often that you get to play in a Game 7.&#8221;</p><p>It&#8217;s fitting the Atlantic Division Finals between the two bitter rivals would be decided in a Game 7. Up to now there&#8217;s been plenty to talk about in the series and it will all culminate on Sunday.</p><p>Jeffrey isn&#8217;t surprised.</p><p>&#8220;Every time we seem to play Hershey there&#8217;s always a story-line. A bunch of different stuff happening,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Every time you play Hershey it&#8217;s usually pretty interesting.&#8221;</p><p>The Penguins kept their season alive with Friday&#8217;s 6-2 win in Game 6 and hope to replicate the effort and advance in the postseason. But they know that Hershey is also in a must-win situation, and they&#8217;re playing at home.</p><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s anything you can work on or anything new you can bring to the table. It&#8217;s who wants it more and who executes better and makes less mistakes,&#8221; Forward Kael Mouillierat said. &#8220;It&#8217;s going to be a desperate hockey game. They already had an elimination game last series so they know how to respond to games like that. We&#8217;ll have to do the same.&#8221;</p><p>Jeffrey added that the Penguins&#8217; mistakes in the series have benefited Hershey and it will be important to stay out of the box, and avoid turnovers, on Sunday.</p><p>&#8220;A calming presence,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want to get too high or too low. Just keep playing the same way.&#8221;</p><p>NOTES</p><p>- Head coach Clark Donatelli said he hasn&#8217;t decided if Casey DeSmith or Tristan Jarry will start on Sunday.</p><p>- Defensemen Niclas Andersen and Reid McNeill are considered probably for Sunday, Donatelli said.</p><p>- Donatelli isn&#8217;t worried about Hershey having the benefit of the last line change at home, and said the Penguins will find ways to get the matchups they want. He expects Hershey to pay close attention to the matchups against the top line of Tom Kostopoulos, Carter Rowney and Jake Guentzel, who combined for 11 points in Game 6.</p><p>&#8220;They&#8217;re a good line. They&#8217;re going to have their hands full tomorrow because Hershey will have the matchup,&#8221; Donatelli said. &#8220;We&#8217;re very confident in playing them against whoever it is.&#8221;</p><style>
