<p>The children at Adventures in Learning Child Care recently teamed with Executive Director Joanne Van Saun from Luzerne County Children and Youth for a good deed.</p><p>The children learned April was Child Abuse Prevention Month. They created their own &#8220;giving tree,&#8221; adorned with handwritten tags.</p><p>The tags asked our parents to fill bags with items that could help in the transition of young people being taken from an unsafe home to somewhere safe. The children asked for the bags to be filled with things such as a clean towel and washcloth, shampoo, soap, a clean outfit and undergarments, and perhaps an item that would bring comfort, like a toy or a stuffed animal. CnS Dental provided dental supplies to help complete the bags.</p><p>Why did the children do this? Well, they are amazing. Whether they are holding their annual lemonade stand (which gives all of its proceeds to local animal shelters), a toy drive for the children who were affected by Hurricane Sandy or a bake sale that helped a local family with medical expenses for their daughter, these children have done it and never asked where the money from all of their hard work went.</p><p>I would just like for them to get acknowledgement &#8211; aside from what we at Adventures in Learning provide when we say how proud we are of them and how sweet they are when deciding where the money they earn goes.</p><p>These kids are great and generous, and have beautiful souls.</p><p><strong>Kerri Manning</strong></p><p>Director of education</p><p>Adventures in Learning Child Care</p><p>Dallas</p><style>
