City police arrest New York man wanted on outstanding warrant

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Police have charged a New Jersey woman with aggravated assault after an incident that happened early Sunday morning.</p><p>Police said an officer was dispatched to an area on South Main Street at 2:10 a.m. on Sunday for a report of an unresponsive woman bleeding in the street. Police arrived to find Latifah Robinson, 24, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, who was allegedly sleeping on the sidewalk.</p><p>The officer called for paramedics, and when Robinson was woken up so her medical condition could be evaluated, she allegedly became violent. Police allege that Robinson was heavily intoxicated, and she continued her violent demeanor.</p><p>Police said that after a brief struggle, Robinson was taken into custody. Robinson allegedly would not willingly get into a police a vehicle, and once inside, she began to kick the door panels and the partition.</p><p>As an officer drove Robinson to police headquarters, she allegedly continued to kick the vehicle&#8217;s partition despite the officer&#8217;s commands to drop. Police allege that she kicked the partition so hard that the sliding window was forced open from the locked position.</p><p>Robinson then allegedly continued to thrust her foot through the opening and nearly kicked the officer in the head as he drove.</p><p>Once officers attempted to remove Robinson from the vehicle, police allege that Robinson continued to kick at officers and had to be forcefully restrained. Robinson allegedly continued to resist as she was brought into the booking area. When officers were securing her in a cell, she allegedly struck an officer in the face with a closed fist. Another officer reportedly sustained bruises on his right bicep from attempting to restrain Robinson.</p><p>Court documents indicate that Robinson faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. She was arraigned on her charges on Sunday, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Malloy Sr. at 10 a.m. on May 26.</p><p>Robinson is jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 bail.</p><style>
