Beyond the Byline: Tops on my bucket list is not thinking about a bucket list

<p>&#8220;Sanctuary city&#8221; is just a sophisticated term for the Badlands.</p><p>As a young kid growing up in Hanover Township&#8217;s Breslau section, every Saturday a bunch of us would walk across the Breslau bridge to the Shawnee Theatre matinee in Plymouth. The movie cost 13 cents, with nickel popcorn and penny candy. Each Saturday, it was Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Randolph Scott. The U.S. Calvary always would save the wagon train from the Indians, who owned the land, and those white people were trespassing. Then, all those outlaws who had been robbing the trains, banks and stagecoaches always would hide out in the Badlands.</p><p>Today it&#8217;s called sanctuary cites. People, some committing crimes, are living here illegally and hiding out under the protection of the government.</p><p><strong>George J. Kochis</strong></p><p>Kingston</p><style>
