State police: Riot at youth treatment home injures staff

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A juror has been kicked out of the trial of a Pittsburgh man accused of killing his neighbors, two sisters of an Iowa state lawmaker. Allegheny County Judge Edward Borkowski didn't specify what rule the man broke. But he told courtroom observers the juror will be replaced with an alternate and the other jurors will continue deliberations considering "only the evidence presented in the courtroom." The jury heard closing arguments Wednesday before they began deliberating the fate of 45-year-old Allen Wade on Thursday. Wade is accused of shooting Susan and Sarah Wolfe after they returned from work on Feb. 6, 2014, apparently to steal a bank card. Wade's public defender claims police rushed to judgment to charge Wade because of the victims' prominent sister, Democratic Iowa state Rep. Mary Wolfe.
