MOOSIC &#8212; After being in an offensive funk one night earlier, theRailRiders needed one thing to go right on Friday to shake off the bad vibes.Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got more than one positive on Friday night as it erupted for a season-high 10 runs and defeated Columbus 10-3 at PNC Field in front of a packed crowd of 9,166.The offensive output was welcome on many fronts, and not just because the team scored just one on Thursday night and was 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position in that defeat. On Friday, seven of the RailRiders 12 hits came with runners in scoring position.The runs helped the pitching staff, which got a start from Luis Severino, who was activated off New York&#8217;s disabled list earlier in the week and optioned to the RailRiders.Severino got his first start of the season with SWB after struggling mightily with the Yankees going 0-7 with an ERA of more than 7.00.The right-hander got off to a great start in the game retiring the first nine batters he faced with his fastball hitting as high as 98 mph in the first inning and striking out three, two on fastballs in the high 90s and one on a devastating slider.&#8220;He was going pretty good, fastball 97-98. He looked really sharp and he was rolling,&#8221; SWB catcher Kyle Higashioka said. &#8220;Overall, I thought he was pretty good.&#8221;Then came nearly a 30-minute rest in the dugout as the offense went to work. The rest could have been used as a boost for Severino, but he wasn&#8217;t the same when he got back on the mound in the fourth inning.He wasn&#8217;t sharp in the fourth walking the bases loaded after four batters hit in the frame. After getting the second out, he allowed a pair of singles that brought in three runs. He was then taken out.Severino threw 37 pitches through three innings and had to throw 30 in the fourth inning and only got 2 outs before getting pulled in favor of Diego Moreno.&#8220;I think that one inning where we scored six runs and he sat in the dugout that long I think that took the momentum and the rhythm away from him,&#8221; RailRiders manager Al Pedrique said. &#8220;He got back out after that inning and I thought he was overthrowing the ball a little bit and my opinion has something to do with sitting in the dugout that long.&#8221;Overthrowing turned into walks, which Severino said hurt him that frame.&#8220;I was trying to be too quick that inning,&#8221; Severino said. &#8220;When you get behind in the count, that&#8217;s what happens.&#8221;The RailRiders gave Severino plenty of support teeing off on T.J. House after a scoreless first inning. They scored two in the second on run-scoring hits by Pete Kozma and Jonathan Diaz before putting up a six-spot in the third highlighted by consecutive doubles by Jake Cave and Kyle Higashioka which drove in one and two runs, respectively as SWB opened a 8-0 advantage after three innings. Ben Gamel also knocked an RBI-double in the third.The offense tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on a run-scoring double by Aaron Judge and a single that plated a run from Donovan Solano.Notes: Judge finished the game 2 for 3 with two doubles and a pair of walks. the only time he did not reach base was when he flew out in the first inning to extend a hitless stretch to 0 for 25. But he rebounded after that at bat. &#8230;Every batter in the RailRiders had at least one hit.
