MOOSIC &#8212; To date, James Pazos has been a very reliable reliever for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre manager Al Pedrique.But every once in a while, a pitcher will have one bad outing.Unfortunately for Pazos and the RailRiders, his first unimpressive appearance of the season came on Saturday afternoon at PNC Field. The left-hander allowed four runs on three hits and two walks in the top of the ninth inning as Columbus overcame a deficit to defeat the RailRiders 7-5.It might not be much of a surprise that Columbus picked up the come-from-behind win since it leads the International League in comeback wins since 2014 and has 13 already this season.A number of rallies start with walks, and Pazos &#8212; who entered the game with a 1.96 ERA in 18 1/3 innings &#8212; helped the Clippers by walking the first two batters of the ninth. It looked like Pazos was going to get out of that jam as he got the next two batters then had two strikes on Erik Gonzalez. But Gonzalez drove an 0-2 pitch to right, scoring two and giving the Clippers a 5-4 lead. A two-run double by Giovanny Urshela extended Columbus&#8217; lead to 7-4 before Pazos was pulled from the game.&#8220;Overall, he&#8217;s been throwing the ball a lot better, especially late in games. We&#8217;re hoping today is a lesson for him that you gotta challenge guys, make them swing the bat,&#8221; Pedrique said about Pazos. &#8220;And when you&#8217;re ahead in the count in key situations, you got to make better pitches when they count.&#8221;Aaron Judge, who finished 2 for 5, plated a run in the ninth on a single, but that&#8217;s all the RailRiders could muster.The game started on the right track for the RailRiders in the bottom of the first. The first two batters, Ben Gamel and Judge, doubled, accounting for the first run. A sacrifice fly by Donovan Solano scored Judge and put the RailRiders up 2-0.Tyler Austin, who spent a good part of last season with the RailRiders and started this season with Double-A Trenton, returned to SWB on Saturday when Chris Parmelee was summoned to New York to take the place of the injured Mark Teixeira. Austin made a triumphant return to Triple-A, hitting a solo home run in his first at-bat to extend the RailRiders&#8217; lead to 3-0 in the second inning.Kyle Higashioka, who was playing in just his sixth Triple-A game this season, smashed a long homer just inside the foul pole in left, accounting for the RailRiders&#8217; fourth run. It was Higashioka&#8217;s second homer with SWB and gave the team a 4-0 lead.Brady Lail got the start and was sharp for most of his outing, facing just two batters over the minimum through five innings.But the right-hander got in trouble in the sixth inning by giving up three runs on four hits and couldn&#8217;t finish the inning as he fell an out short of picking up his fifth straight quality start. The sixth started with Lail walking the lead-off batter. Before that inning, he gave up just two hits.&#8220;I would say that he lost his concentration a little based on the fact that he walked the No. 9 hitter,&#8221; Pedrique added. &#8220;When you have a 4-0 lead, mentally sometimes that can make a difference.&#8221;While the offense got off to a good start on Saturday, it didn&#8217;t end so well. After Higashioka&#8217;s homer, the RailRiders got just one more hit before Judge&#8217;s run-scoring single in the ninth, and that was an infield single by Jake Cave in the sixth.&#8220;It&#8217;s a big loss with them coming back in the ninth inning; you never wanna lose a game like that,&#8221; Austin said. &#8220;But ya know what, it&#8217;s baseball, it happens. It&#8217;s gonna happen for the next thousand years.
