Lawmakers vote to allow wine sales in groceries

MOOSIC &#8212; In the first game of the current series between Charlotte and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Knights and their top-hitting offense in the International League buried the RailRiders.On Tuesday night, SWB gave the Knights a taste of their own medicine scoring a season-high 11 runs on a season-high 18 hits as the RailRiders snapped a three-game losing streak with an 11-10 win at PNC Field.The winning run scored in the bottom of the ninth when Jake Cave drew a bases-loaded walk.The win was anything but easy as the wild game lasted 3 hours and 53 minutes, the longest SWB game of the season. The craziness also included just two 1-2-3 innings, coming by SWB relievers Conor Mullee and Mark Montgomery in the seventh and eighth innings, and the home plate umpire making an emphatic call on a second strike forgetting the count.The game also consisted of the Knights battling from five runs down to pull within a run, and from four down to get within one. While the RailRiders staved off both of those comeback tries, they couldn&#8217;t stop Charlotte from scoring two in the top of the ninth off Montgomery to tie the game at 10-10 as four SWB pitchers combined to allow a season-high in runs.The SWB offense was paced by catcher Kyle Higashioka, who had a career-best four hits to continue his torrid start to his Triple-A career. His four hits tie Gary Sanchez for the most in one game this season by a RailRider.He also clubbed a three-run homer in a five-run first inning as the RailRiders opened a 5-0 lead. Higashioka&#8217;s third homer in eight games with the team went to the opposite field. He also raised his batting average to a lusty .387.Charlotte got within 5-4 in the third inning thanks to a three-run homer by Danny Hayes, but the RailRiders tacked on one in the bottom of the third and three more in the fourth to open a four-run lead at 9-5. A three-spot in the sixth by Charlotte pulled the team within 9-8 before the RailRiders opened a two-run advantage in the seventh on a RBI-single by Aaron Judge.All nine players in the RailRiders lineup reached base, while seven of the nine batters were on base at least twice and either scored a run or drove one in.
