Wilkes-Barre man accused of kidnapping teen gets up to 20 years

<p>HAZLETON &#8212; CAN DO Inc. honored board member Elaine Judd with its 2016 Chairman&#8217;s Award during its 60th annual dinner June 7.</p><p>CAN DO Board of Directors Chairman Dr. John Madden presented the award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer contributions to the organization, to Judd for her commitment to CAN DO. Judd currently serves as Chair of the CAN DO Community Relations Committee, is a member of the Executive Committee and is involved in other aspects of the organization.</p><p>Judd is the widow of the late Robert Judd, who served as a CAN DO board member for 30 years and was an officer when he passed away in 2011. While her served on the board, Judd would frequently join him as a volunteer for various projects and events. Upon her husband&#8217;s death, Judd was asked to serve on the board in his place. She joined the CAN DO Board of Directors at the next induction and assumed the position of Community Relations Chair just three years later on July 1, 2015.</p><p>Judd also volunteers as a member of the CAN DO Community Foundation Board of Directors and was recently elected assistant secretary. She is working on the Freeland YMCA renovation project on behalf of the foundation.</p><p>Judd is president of Arc Electric, which donated the television monitor system that CAN DO uses in its atrium. This system promotes the organization&#8217;s functions and website for people who visit the offices.</p><p>For the past two years, Judd has offered space at Arc Electric&#8217;s facility to store the collection of items being gathered for &#8220;Operation: CAN DO,&#8221; a community relations committee service project that creates care packages for military service members with ties to Greater Hazleton who are stationed abroad for the Christmas holiday. She also provides a vehicle and a driver for delivery of items to the Freeland American Legion post.</p><p>Judd also is a sponsor and assists with the CAN DO Community Christmas event, held annually at Christ Lutheran Church in Hazleton.</p><style>
