General Motors to bring Mexico-made Cruze to US dealers

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — General Motors says the company is bringing Chevrolet Cruze vehicles made in Mexico into the United States, to help meet high demand. WKBH-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1YfTvaK ) the automaker released a statement Friday afternoon saying the assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, that makes the Cruze is off to a strong start for 2016. However, in an effort to meet increased customer demand, Cruze vehicles made in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico are being shipped to dealers in the U.S. and Canada. The Cruze is one of GM's best-selling vehicles. Kristin Dziczek, director of the Industry, Labor & Economics Group at the Center for Automotive Research, tells the station the existing contract with the United Autoworkers allows for Cruzes to be brought in from outside the country if domestic production is strong. ___ Information from: WKBN-TV, http://www.wkbn.com
