Our Opinion: Don’t allow repeat of state budget fight; our counties can’t afford to be collateral damage

<p>DALLAS &#8212; Police are warning residents that someone has been calling Dallas residents and claiming to be members of the Dallas Borough Police.</p><p>According to Police Chief James J. Drury, the unknown person is telling the victims they are going to be arrested for not reporting for grand jury duty and then ask the receiver of the call to purchase a pre-paid card. Police said the caller is asking for a $500 fee to avoid arrest.</p><p>Chief Drury said the Dallas Borough Police Department is not, and does not, contact anyone by telephone to pay fines.</p><p>He said anyone receiving a telephone call from anyone claiming to be a representative of the Dallas Borough Police Department attempting to solicit payment is asked to call 570-675-016.</p><p>Chief Drury advises resident to not give any personal information or send any monies to the callers.</p><style>
