Matt Elliott, Guest Columnist: Pa.’s energy policy means more jobs, lower bills

<p>Matt Wotherspoon, a graduate from Crestwood, was promoted once again to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.</p><p>In his first outing with the RailRiders in a month and a day, the right-handed reliever picked up his first Triple-A save going 3 1/3 innings against Columbus. In that appearance, he allowed the first run of his RailRiders career as his ERA with the club rose to 0.96 in four games and 9 1/3 innings. He followed that outing with a perfect frame on Thursday night. So his ERA on the season with the RailRiders is now 0.87 with a WHIP of 0.68. He&#8217;s given up just six hits and whiffed nine on 10 1/3 innings.</p><p><strong>Mike Papi</strong></p><p>Tunkhannock native and graduate is starting to get on track in Double-A with the Akron RubberDucks of the Cleveland Indians organization.</p><p>With the help of hits in five of six games last week, Papi collected seven hits. Even though he didn&#8217;t&#8217; register a hit in one contest, he still reached base and has gotten on base in eight straight games. He&#8217;s seen his batting average jump nearly 150 points from being at .087 through eight games to start his Double-A career. His average now sits at .229 for the season.</p><p>The strongest part of his game has always been his knack for getting on base. That remains true with a .383 on base percentage for Akron. Combined with his stats from Single-A, Papi&#8217;s OBP is .393 for the season.</p><p><strong>Ray Black</strong></p><p>The Coughlin grad spent some time on Richmond&#8217;s disabled list with back spasms, but was activated last week by the Double-A Flying Squirrels. The right-hander needed just the minimum seven days on the DL and was back into game action on Thursday, the same day he was activated.</p><p>In his first outing in eight days, the 25-year-old pitched a perfect inning striking out the side against Binghamton.</p><p>For the season, Black holds an ERA of 6.65 with a 1-4 record and five saves with the club in the Giants organization. He has an astonishing strikeout rate of 37 in just 21 2/3 innings. With his scoreless inning last week, Black has now gone four straight outings without allowing a hit or a run.</p><style>
