MOOSIC &#8212; A young Gwinnett pitcher trying to find his way in Triple A received a rocky greeting from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.Their own starting pitcher is beginning to find his old form.Hard-throwing right hander Luis Severino worked 8 1/3 dazzling innings Saturday and the RailRiders used a five-run first inning to back him while cruising past Gwinnett, 7-1 at PNC Field.&#8220;I think I&#8217;m there,&#8221; Severino said.Severino flashed the form that made him the top prospect of the parent New York Yankees entering the 2015 season and earned him a 5-3 record with a 2.89 ERA in 11 starts for the Yankees over the second half of last season.Severino, who ended last season and began this one in the starting rotation for the Yankees, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed the G-Braves just three hits and one run for the game.&#8220;That&#8217;s the Severino I know,&#8221; said RailRiders right fielder Aaron Judge, who crushed a two-run homer and scored another run in support of the RailRiders starter. &#8220;He dominates you, attacks you.&#8221;Severino struck out four and walked two before departing after a one-out single by Rio Ruiz in the ninth inning.Through the first five innings, Severino was spectacular, retiring 13 of 14 batters and seven straight to enter the sixth inning without surrendering a hit.&#8220;All my pitches were working,&#8221; Severino said. &#8220;I feel good, my arm feels good. All my pitches went through. My changeup&#8217;s good, my slider&#8217;s good, my fastball&#8217;s good.&#8221;That wasn&#8217;t the case earlier this season when Severino was struggling at the start of his second big league season. He was 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA in seven starts with the Yankees before being placed on the disabled list with a mild triceps strain and then optioned the RailRiders on May 30&#8220;I lost a little confidence two months ago with my changeup and slider not working well,&#8221; said Severino, who struck out five, walked three and improved to 3-0 with the RailRiders this season and 10-0 dating back to last year. &#8220;Now I&#8217;m pitching like I used to.&#8221;His only real blemish came when Gwinnett&#8217;s No. 9 hitter Matt Lipka laced a leadoff triple just over the out-stretched glove of RailRiders right fielder Cesar Puello, then scored Gwinnett&#8217;s lone run in the sixth inning on a groundout by Ozzie Albies.But Severino responded by retiring nine of 11 batters until Anthony Recker&#8217;s single finished his night with one out in the ninth.He left to a healthy ovation from RailRiders fans, and tipped his cap in appreciation.&#8220;I love the fans here,&#8221; Severino said.By then, Severino and the RailRiders had things well under control.Facing Gwinnett prospect Chris Ellis, who was making his Triple-A debut, the RailRiders had a rather rude welcoming for the G-Braves&#8217; righthander.Donovan Solano slammed a one-out single in the bottom of the first inning, then Judge drove a long, opposite-field, two-run shot over the right field wall.&#8220;Just looking for a good pitch to hit,&#8221; Judge said. &#8220;From the videos I saw, he&#8217;s got good stuff. I definitely didn&#8217;t want to fall behind. Trying to get a good pitch to hit early in the count and try to drive it.&#8221;Gary Sanchez followed with a double, Jake Cave singled and Tyler Austin blasted another double to score Sanchez for a 3-0 RailRiders lead. Puello lofted a deep sacrifice fly as Cave scored, but the attack on Ellis continued. Pete Kozma was hit by a pitch, Dan Fiorito drew a walk, then Ben Gamel walked to force Austin home with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre&#8217;s fifth run of the inning.It finished Ellis after 2/3 of an inning of his first Triple-A outing.But the RailRiders weren&#8217;t quite finished.Judge walked, stole second base and continued to third when the throw to second base sailed into center field.
