<p><strong>John Carr, Sr., Holy Redeemer</strong></p><p>An all-state selection in 2015, Carr continued to build on his strong scholastic campaign. The senior was second on Holy Redeemer with 136 kills. He led the team with 38 blocks. Carr also had a strong jump-serve with a team-high 11 aces and 100 points. He was selected by the coaches as the league&#8217;s Most Valuable Player in 2016 and could earn all-state honors later in the summer when the team is released.</p><p><strong>Mike Mohutsky, Jr., Holy Redeemer</strong></p><p>Mohutsky had some big shoes to fill, replacing Alex Kotch as the Royals&#8217; libero, and the junior lived up to expectations. He was steady in the back row with a team-high 34 digs and had a dangerous serve with 132 points in 2016. Mohutsky was selected to the second team in the Wyoming Valley Conference.</p><p><strong>Eddie Lukowski, Sr., Nanticoke Area</strong></p><p>A multiple-year starter for Nanticoke Area, Lukowski was one of the best setters in the Wyoming Valley Conference. A Times Leader first-team selection in 2015, Lukowski was second in the league with 396 assists, behind DelVal&#8217;s Liam Naturale. He was more than just a setter though. He added 28 kills, 24 blocks and 119 service points. Lukowski was a first-team WVC pick in 2016.</p><p><strong>Brent Piontkowski, Sr., Nanticoke Area</strong></p><p>It&#8217;s hard to believe that Piontkowski was only in his third season as a volleyball player after playing baseball as a freshman. He led the Wyoming Valley Conference in kills with 186, and was the focal point of the Trojan offense. A 6-foot-5 senior, Piontkowski was second on the team in blocks and was an efficient server with 102 points. He was selected to the conference&#8217;s first team.</p><p><strong>Nick Klimchok, Sr., Wyoming Valley West</strong></p><p>Klimchok was one of the senior leaders on a Spartans squad that finished 9-3 in the conference and earned a berth in the District 2-11 Class 3A subregional. He was a steady hand with 273 assists, and added 33 kills and 24 blocks. He wasn&#8217;t bad in the back row with 31 digs, 14 aces and 74 service points. Klimchok made the first team in the Wyoming Valley Conference.</p><p><strong>Tyler Klienbach, Jr., Wyoming Valley West</strong></p><p>Klienbach was one of three underclassmen selected on the Times Leader first team after a breakout junior season. He was second in the league with 57 blocks, and finished with 107 kills. Klienbach also held his own behind the service line with 16 aces and 55 points. The Spartan was also a first-team WVC selection.</p><p><strong>Michael Williams, Soph., Crestwood</strong></p><p>Just a sophomore, Williams has been a fixture in the Comets lineup from Day 1 and showed his versatility in 2016. After spending his freshman year as an attacker, Williams shifted to setter where he was fourth in the league with 298 assists. Arguably he was the best server in the WVC with a powerful jump-serve. He led the league with 38 aces and finished with 105 points as Crestwood qualified for the state tournament. Williams was a second-team conference selection.</p><style>
