<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey will partner with State Sen. Lisa Baker to honor Korean War veterans with the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal.</p><p>Toomey, R-Zionsville, is working with the Korean Consul General to provide medals for U.S. veterans who reside in the Pennsylvania General Assembly&#8217;s 20th Senate district for their honorable service in the Korean War.</p><p>&#8220;There are many Korean War veterans in the Commonwealth that bravely served this country,&#8221; Toomey said. &#8220;For over half a century, many of these veterans have been unsung heroes. I am honored to help these veterans and their families finally get the credit and gratitude they are due. I encourage all Korean War veterans to contact my office for more information on the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal.&#8221;</p><p>Baker, R-Lehman Township, said she wanted to thank Korean War veterans for their service and sacrifice.</p><p>&#8220;By remembering what they did, what was accomplished, what was lost, and most of all, the principles and beliefs they fought for, we can truly understand that freedom is never, ever free,&#8221; Baker said. &#8220;I hope everyone with a connection to these heroes will help us to provide this long-overdue recognition.&#8221;</p><p>To receive the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal, an eligible veteran must have served the country during the Korean War from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, or have participated in UN peacekeeping operations until the end of 1955.dm</p><p>DD-214 discharge document showing service in Korea.</p><p>Applications for the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal must be received by July 29, 2016.</p><p>For applications, contact:</p><p>&#8226; Frank Mazza in Toomey&#8217;s office at Frank_Mazza@toomey.senate.gov and 570-941-3540.</p><p>&#8226; Andrew M.
