STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Contract talks were continuing the day before the service workers' union contract expires at Mount Nittany Medical Center in central Pennsylvania. The hospital is the only one in Centre County and employs about 2,400. Roughly 1,000 of those workers are represented by the Service Employees International Union. The Centre Daily Times (http://bit.ly/292uz5L ) reports the contract expires Thursday, but that hospital and union officials confirmed negotiations are ongoing. The union last went on strike in 2004 and under federal law would have to give 10 days' notice of a work stoppage, which it has yet to do.
