No jury for Baltimore officer charged in Freddie Gray death

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A former state transportation worker has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that he was given undesirable duties and ultimately fired after he complained about racial epithets. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/29glWAU ) reports that Nicholas Carpellotti of Greensburg filed suit in federal court Saturday against the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The lawsuit alleges that Carpellotti, who is white, was a transportation equipment operator at Adamsburg Stock Pile when he confronted a foreman and manager in 2010 about their use of racial epithets in discussions about a black employee. Another worker was later fired, and Carpellotti's attorney, Jon Pushinsky, says flyers threatening his client later appeared. Pushinsky said his client was then wrongly accused of threatening a foreman and ultimately fired in 2014.
