<p>WEST PITTSTON &#8212; Longtime borough employee Terry Strubeck was presented with a gold clock and a plaque with his his name engraved on it by Mayor Tom Blaskiewicz at the borough council&#8217;s monthly meeting Tuesday.</p><p>&#8220;I go back to when I got sworn in as mayor, it&#8217;s so important to always look back and see who the people are that are your assets, and Terry was an asset,&#8221; said Blaskiewicz. &#8220;He was an employee that lived here and worked for this borough for 40-plus years and it was the least I could do to recognize him for the lifetime achievement.&#8221;</p><p>Strubeck spent over 46 years driving multiple borough vehicles such as dump trucks, recycling trucks and street sweepers. His last day of work was April 16; he officially retired on May 1.</p><p>Strubeck called the clock presentation a surprise.</p><p>&#8220;I just thought (Blaskiewicz) was just going to shake my hand,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Now that he&#8217;s retired, Strubeck looks forward to traveling around the world with his wife, Wendy.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re planning a trip to Nova Scotia (Canada),&#8221; he said. &#8220;When she retires, we&#8217;ll go on it.&#8221;</p><p>In other business, the borough council members:</p><p>&#8226; Approved the resignation of Blaskiewicz from the Property Maintenance Board of Appeals.</p><p>&#8226; Authorized the borough engineer and police department to perform a traffic study on Baltimore Avenue and Tunkhannock Avenue to determine whether signs to slow traffic are needed.</p><p>&#8226; Approved temporarily closing Susquehanna Avenue from the Water Street Bridge to the Fort Jenkins Bridge on Sept. 10 for the Pittston Memorial Library Tom and Diane Tigue Memorial 5k Fun Run/Walk.</p><p>&#8226; Adopted a resolution requesting a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant of $55,661 to be used for the Baltimore Avenue Park improvements, including demolishing the swimming pool.</p><style>

Retired West Pittston employee Terry Strubeck honored
