<p>SCRANTON &#8212; A Forty Fort dentist on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to charges he lied on his 2009 and 2010 income tax returns.</p><p>Charles J. Musto, a periodontist and owner of a dental practice on 920 Wyoming Ave., was <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/539254/forty-fort-dentist-facing-federal-charges-for-filing-false-tax-return" target="_blank">charged in May</a> with a single count of tax fraud after federal prosecutors said he knowingly reported less in both net income and receipts on his 2009 income tax return. He later <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/544034/forty-fort-dentist-pleads-not-guilty-to-federal-tax-fraud" target="_blank">pleaded not guilty</a>.</p><p>Charges from a superseding indictment filed June 21 in U.S. District Court indicated Musto lied on his 2010 tax return and &#8220;did corruptly endeavor to obstruct and impede the due administration of the internal revenue laws&#8221; through deceptive means between 2008 and 2012.</p><p>Musto entered the plea during his arraignment Wednesday at the William J. Nealon Federal Courthouse in Scranton, court records show. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of filing false tax returns and a single count of tax evasion.</p><p>Court documents report Musto allegedly filed the fraudulent returns for his dental practice and for rental properties he owns, which were verified &#8220;by a written declaration that it was made under the penalties of perjury.&#8221;</p><p>Musto was unable to be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.</p><style>
