<p>Paige Selenski will be with the United States women&#8217;s field hockey team for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics next month.</p><p>Whether the Dallas graduate actually appears in her second straight Olympic Games is much less certain.</p><p>Selenski is one of two alternates &#8211; the other is a goalie &#8211; should U.S. coach Craig Parnham have to make any emergency roster changes to field players on his 16-woman roster.</p><p>If one of the 15 field players sustains an injury, Selenski could replace that player in remaining games and that player would not be able to return. USA Field Hockey communications manager Kait Mitchell said via e-mail Thursday that she could not recall that happening to a U.S. team during an international tournament.</p><p>Last summer, Wyoming Seminary graduate Kat Sharkey was on the original U.S. roster for the Pan American Games, but was replaced by alternate Emily Wold prior to the tournament after suffering a broken ankle.</p><p>Selenski scored the last U.S. game at the 2012 London Games when the United States finished last in the 12-team field.</p><p>Nine players from that team are back on this year&#8217;s roster plus Selenski as an alternate.</p><p>Selenski appeared on path to also return to the Olympics and was part of many U.S. Olympic Committee promotional events leading up to the games. She suffered a serious right hamstring injury early in 2015 and played through it for a while, but had to have surgery to reattach the hamstring to the bone after last year&#8217;s Pan American Games title that clinched the spot in the Olympics.</p><p>After returning to action this spring, Selenski saw some time on the field, but did not regain her spot among the program&#8217;s top players for the active tournament roster.</p><p>Following her career at Dallas, Selenski was an All-American at the University of Virginia. She graduated as the eighth-leading scorer in NCAA Division I history.</p><p>The United States has three exhibition games in Lancaster this month before heading to Houston with athletes from other sports to prepare for the trip to Brazil.</p><style>
