Judge denies bail for part-time officer charged in slaying

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Two former western Pennsylvania university football players have been sentenced to probation in a case stemming from an off-campus beating in 2014. Twenty-year-old D'Andre Dunkley and 22-year-old Shelby Wilkerson each pleaded guilty in Washington County earlier this month to a misdemeanor simple assault charge and were sentenced to 18 months' probation. Other counts including aggravated assault and conspiracy were dropped. They were among six California University of Pennsylvania players charged following an October 2014 beating outside a California borough restaurant that left 30-year-old Lewis Campbell in intensive care with severe brain trauma. Twenty-four-year-old Corey Ford pleaded no contest to aggravated assault last month. Charges against 22-year-old James Williamson were dismissed. Cases against 22-year-old Jonathan Barlow and 21-year-old Rodney Gillin are still pending.
